FINISH OUR III IWUD’S 2017: RESILIENT CITIES «HAVANA – CARTAGENA»

In the academic and professional framework of our South – South cooperative platform. Last April was held the first International Workshop in Sustainable Urban Development in Latin America in the colorful Caribbean region, this time with the topic of RESILIENT CITIES.

The main objective of the workshop was to highlight the primary effects that have caused global problems such as climate change and neoliberalism. The Resilient Cities Workshop was aimed at two specific Caribbean cities: Havana, Cuba and Cartagena de Indias, Colombia that share similar situations because of their historical importance, geographical location and the challenges facing the effects of climate change and increasing tourism.

The great acceptance of this recent international workshop allowed the participation of different professional and academic profiles, including commissions from countries such as Mexico, Peru, Honduras, Italy, Cuba and Colombia, which in turn strengthened the discourse of «global resilience» to Through scenarios or cases of studies of their nationalities.

Finally, the academic sample and various international papers ended up in the development of a participatory project in our POLICARPA URBAN LAB, as a vital contribution to the development of a comprehensive agenda and implementation of key projects for the social development of this beloved community in the City of Cartagena de Indias.

Buro DAP International is deeply grateful for the participation of all in this event and invites the entire community to be part of this great experience in 2018.
